Operation Haiti

2020 Companies is proud of our efforts to help improve conditions in the nation of Haiti through our association with Food For the Poor, a world relief organization providing much-needed assistance to impoverished nations. In September, 2006, 2020 CEO Barry Millay and a group of "Haitian pilgrims" returned to Haiti to see the progress that has been assisted by 2020's contributions to Food For The Poor. A medical clinic, 15 wells, a school, an agricultural program, micro credit loans, and a livestock program are just a few of the projects undertaken by Food For The Poor.

Haiti has long been considered the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Today, the vast majority of Haitians live at the lowest economic level and many suffer from a lack of food and medical care. An estimated 80% live in abject poverty. More than half of the population, including two-thirds of the children, suffers from malnutrition. About 76 of every 1000 children die before reaching their fifth birthday.

Food For The Poor operates its own warehouse distribution site in Port-au-Prince. Approximately 15,000 people a day are fed at this site, from which Food For The Poor has been able to provide food and goods to the poor through church programs.
